One to One
One to One
Technology has been an important part of our educational system, and is often used to make the learning experience easier for the students. Computers are something that we use everyday in school, and are sometimes even imperative for the completion of a student’s assignment. Whether we’re typing up a paper, or doing research for a class project, computers and laptops are something that have been getting more and more useful and needed.
In Kennedy High School, using laptops and desktop computers can sometimes become a hassle for the teachers. Laptop and surface carts have to be reserved, and sometimes our educators cannot get these carts when they desperately need them for the students. There is an answer, however, that can make this easier for all parties involved. Next year, Kennedy High School has announced that they are switching to one to one. This means that one laptop will be assigned to each student so that they always have a computer with them, should the need arise in any class.
This development that will be put into place next year, will not only make the teachers’ lives easier, but will improve the students’ as well. There are numerous students in the Cedar Rapids School District, who do not have a personal computer at their homes, and school is the only place they have the opportunity to do so. Because of this, school life can be more difficult, and make it hard for said students to get their work in on time. By assigning every student their own computer, students who may not have had the benefit of a laptop prior will, and can in turn get more schoolwork done for their classes.
This exciting new investment of Kennedy High School, will be coming soon. We can all trust that this development will be long awaited and appreciated when we all come back next school year.
I think that you need to make either your background or your letters a different color so people can see what you are saying. Also I didn't see much of your opinion in this either. Good job
ReplyDeleteThat's because this one isn't the opinion piece, so you're on the right track, Ashley!
DeleteI like the relevancy of this article and think it was written well. A cool thing you could have added would have been which other schools in Iowa already have this one to one feature, and how it has worked for them.
ReplyDeleteI think this was a nice topic to cover as lots of students are probably curious as to what the one to one may actually do or why it's happening. You provided a good amount of information, well done!
ReplyDeleteI think this is a great topic to talk about. I didn't know that kennedy was going to do that, thats so cool! I like the information you provided about other schools in iowa.
ReplyDeleteI think you did a great job finding relative information to the topic. I think it would be better if you would reference where you got the information. Did you conduct an interview? Did you look at school records of some sort? Are you just going off rumor and small comments made by teachers?
ReplyDeleteI think this article is good because it relevant to our everyday life in school.
ReplyDeleteThis article is pretty good and doesn't have any overbearing issues, but I would recommend listing cons in addition to pros. It makes the article seem biased even though it might not have meant to be.
ReplyDeleteWhat about students who don't have internet access at home? Hm. Your writing format looks right on. Keep exploring the details.
